Formation driving

After the mornings twisty, turny roads and a bit of lunch, the second part of the route is more about pace, rather than turns. Which is just as well, as we've all had a huge lunch at the Chequers Pub in Redbourn.

The weathers stayed dry for a change, which has meant we've been able to enjoy the driving, without fear of greasy, slippery roads. With just a 30 mile section, and good speed we've made it back to the Services at Baldock and in time for a quick coffee at Starbucks before we make our way home.

A big thanks to all the guys who came today, and hope you enjoyed it (even if the sat navs went a bit crazy in the morning).

Had a question about "Pubs"? I hear that smoking has been banned in them. True? Not true? If yes how do you feel about it and is the law working?

My wife and I don't smoke, hate the stuff. Has it been a hated law or as here in SoCal been tolerated? Smokers here said... " All the bars will go out of business!" Well maybe some have but most have been fine.

Yep smoking ban here from all public places, including shopping malls, restaurants and pubs. Most provide a seating area outside, but it must have less that 3 sides, otherwise is counts as premises.

Seems to be going ok, have to admit, i don't smoke and hate it when your in a restaurant and someone smokes on the next table. But having said that, i kinda expected people to smoke in pubs.

Had a great time and drove the Hillybilly route for the first time on Sunday, and it felt so different, as previously i was just a passenger, writing route notes down.

I'm gonna miss my Cosper when shes gone......

"Miss Your Cosper" ??? Do you mean Cooper? If yes, why would you sell it? There are still states here that allow smoking and when I have traveled across the USA oin my MCS it takes it's toll. Gack!

Cosper's our Cooper (number plate is AC05 PER so she became known as Cosper. Everyone knows her name (even at my place of work where most of them don't know the difference between a Cooper and an S!)

Cosper and GramPy (the GP) go in 2-3 weeks for a diesel Clubman. ARGH....

Had to be done. Petrol here is getting close to £5 or 10 dollars a gallon. And at 24-32 mpg its getting expensive to run them.

Besides next year we have a couple of European trips lined up including the Italian Job again and a trip to Romania, in search of vampires (hehe) which is a round trip of 3000 miles. Last year we found it hard to get super unleaded in the Czech Republic so i bet its even harder to get it in Romania.

Trying to get the wife to get a Clubman and drop the A4. Good luck. No Diesel MINIs here.

Been invited to Canterbury next year. Is that anywhere near Birmingham where the IMM is being held?

Did you see my vid on the IMM over at twisty?

Dear Chris & Jax

You had lunch at The Chequers in Redbourn, 200 yards from my front door and didn't invite me!

I wasn't even on holiday at the time!

Talk about neglecting elderly parents!
